Your fight with Zombie Borghen will be the same as it was when you encountered him in the story. When you approach, you will be taken into your first boss fight of the dungeon: He is confronting his killer, Zombie Borghen. There you will see another fallen companion, Josef. These are some difficult enemies, and could easily wipe the party of two out. Though it is a great place to level up your characters, I would suggest waiting until you have gotten all of your characters. These are like the rooms in the main story, in they are filled with encounters every step. In all but one of the small rooms, you will find them to be empty. Then head over to the left, and enter the bottom most door to the next area. Both of these will come in handy in later fights.Īfter the union, grab the Elixir in the chest near you. If you have a Bloodsword, that is a great way to go.Īlso don't be shy about giving Scott some spells like Cure, and Fire. He is more proficient with swords than anything else. Set him up with the best equipment you might posses. When you approach, you will be taken into a fight with several soldiers.Īfter you defeat them, Scott and Minwu will have a brief conversation, and Scott will join the group. Minwu initially believes it to be Gordon, but soon realizes it is Scott. When you do, you will see somone being attackedīy Imperial Soldiers. In this first area, you will want to head to the bottom right off the bat. Once you are ready to begin, head into the next area. If you have any good spells like Flare or Holy, be sure to give them to him. (This is true for all but Scott in the section.) Equip anything that you might have better than his current stuff. Minwu is at the same level and equipped with the same stuff you had on him when he passed. He will then awaken to find himself here. The music, world and writing is a gigantic step above FF1.When you begin Soul of Rebirth, you will hear Minwu speaking about his passing, when he breaks the seal on the Ultima Tome. An actual cast, swapping party members, Chocobos, Wind Drakes, many now-classic monsters. I have a lot of praise for just how much the game introduced though. I've almost been everywhere on the map and I still don't have access to air travel! The game also suffers from some really weird encounter zoning early on that can throw people off if you accidentally step the invisible border into mid-game territory right next to the starting zone. The world is intimate due to the nature of the story and how you travel around but damn if running into Goblins for the 500th time isn't annoying while traveling. but they're level 1, so I need to spend the rest of the game bringing them up to par! Actually most of my problems with the leveling relate to magic: shit like Protect/Blink missing, Esuna not working on status effects unless you level it up (basically only accomplishable by spamming it for no real effect), magic just being trash in general compared to regular attacks (although to its credit, at least there is actually a reason to use it with Flans and the like compared to FF1). I don't think the level up system is particularly bad but there are several implementation details that cause problems. I believe its closer to the original and I can't stand the PSP art. I'm working on FF2 Origins right now after finishing FF1.
